Tristan Bancks
Hi
I’m going to be speaking at ScotchFest about how I use images, music, the web etc. to stay juiced and to generate writing ideas. My Mac Slater, Coolhunter books were inspired by articles and video I found on the web. I also recently wrote a book via email between my place in Byron Bay and my co-writer Tempany Deckert’s place in L.A. Tempany and I have only actually seen one another twice in about thirteen years but we still managed to write a book together online.
Ahead of my sessions, I’d love the year 9s and 10s to have a think about how you use the web, your favourite sites, whether you ever get ideas from the web and how you connect with friends online. I also need the year 7 and 8s to come up with some outrageous invention ideas!
I’ve had a really cool couple of days speaking at Byron Bay Writers Festival. (Tough job.) Nick Earls, Wendy Harmer, Gretel Killeen, Anna Fienberg and others were there, too, talking about the way they do their stuff. I can’t wait to sneak into the sessions of some of the amazing peeps you have at Scotch this year. See you there.

Hi, I’ll be introducing you with Josh (either above or below-we’re not sure which one of us will post first). I’m currently reading your book ‘Mac Slater, COOL HUNTER’ but unfortunately I only just received it from the library so I haven’t read much. I’ve read the blurb and I think it’s great. If you need anything for your presentation just ask me or Josh.

Greetings, Tristan Bancks. My name is Josh and I will be your introducer with Kai-Yang on Monday 10th. I am currently reading and enjoying your novel, ‘Coolhunter’ from the Mac Slater series when Mac has just been given a trial to be a coolhunter. The story is great because everyone wants to be cool but they have to make tough decisions, like abandoning best friends. Like Kai-Yang said if you need anything for your presentation just ask us.

hi tristan
it was great being able to be in your workshop, it was intersting to learn the way you keep yourself writing all the time and how you use that skeleton paper idea thing to see if you like the story
