The Angel Experiment
Maximum Ride is a fourteen year old girl with wings who is the result of genetic experiments at a secret lab to inject avian genes into human embroyos. Max is the oldest of the six members of her family, or as they refer to themselves, the flock. The others are Fang, a very steely and determined boy who is four months younger than Max; Iggy, who was blinded by experimentation to improve his night vision; Nudge, a young and very energetic girl who talks non-stop; and two young kids, Gazzy or the Gasman ass they call him, an eight year old boy with persistent intestinal problems and Angel, his six-year-old sister. The two were the only real siblings in the group. Max and her companions were kept in cages and subject to repeated scientific experiments during their life at the School (the lab where they were kept was called); they were eventually freed by one of the lab scientists (who are referred to by the flock as Whitecoats) named Jeb Batchelder. Jeb kept them at his mountain home and raised and educated them in se; but Jeb suddenly disappeared two years ago and the flock has been on its own since then. Suddenly, Erasers (experimental beings also developed at the lab who can morph into powerful vicious wolf-like creatures) raid the family’s mountain hideaway and kidnap Angel. It’s up to the flock to save her.

Down Under- Bill Bryson
Down Under, is a journal-like recollection of Bill Bryson’s trip around parts of Australia. Bill Bryson an American born, Englishmen, is a famous author for his comprehensive recollections. The reason I found this book so interesting to read, is because I found it intriguing how a foreigner to our country observes our differences in culture, language and traditions (sport, holidays etc.). This book also taught me a lot about Australia which didn’t have a clue about, especially in the history of Politics and European settlement. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about our great country whilst being entertained at the same time.

artemis fowl- first book-
This book is great. It has all the elements of a book that a 14-year old boy would read. it is funny, witty and a 14year old genius outsmarting adults. This book is all about how Artemis finds out about a whole new species living in the centre of the world. He then finds out how they have magic powers to convince humans to do watever they like or heal themselves or others. When the magic runs out they have to plant an oak tree seed into the ground near a river to replenish their powers. Artemis finds this out and kidnaps one in the middle of it’s ritual and holds her ransom. i’m not going to break the story so if you want to find out more READ IT!

Another classic read from John Grisham. Highly reccommended. A very riveting plot, involving the death of a US attourney, and 11 year old Mark Sway the only one knowing where the body is buried. The FBI will stop at nothing to find out his secret. Together with Mark’s Laywer, Reggie Love, they battle the law.

Matthew Reilly - CONTEST
This exciting novel by Matthew Reilly had me glued to its pages with it’s constantly moving, fast paced storyline, through the adventures of Stephen Swain when he becomes involved in a battle between creatures and monsters from other planets. The contest was held in the New York State Library, an unlikely setting for Swain to be chosen to represent the human race in the Presidian.
I recommend this book to anyone like me who doesn’t read much. yet i was addicted to this book and i loved it. It’s a good read. 9/10

The last oracle
What if you could bioengineer the next great world prophet: scientifically produce the next Buddha, the next Muhammad, or the next Jesus? Would it mark the Second Coming or initiate a chain reaction with disastrous consequences?
A master at combining historical and religious intrigue with edge of your seat adventure, James Rollins brings back SIGMA Force to battle a group of rogue scientists who’ve unleashed a bioengineering project that could bring about the extinction of humankind. In Washington, D.C., a homeless man dies in Commander Gray Pierce’s arms, shot by an assassin’s bullet. But the death leaves behind a greater mystery: a bloody coin found clutched in the dead man’s hand, an ancient relic that can be traced back to the Greek Oracle of Delphi. As ruthless hunters search for the stolen artifact, Gray Pierce discovers that the coin is the key to unlocking a plot that dates back to the Cold War and threatens the very foundation of humanity. An international think tank of scientists known as the Jasons has discovered a way to bioengineer autistic children who show savant talents - mathematical geniuses, statistical masterminds, brilliant conceptual artists - into something far greater and far more frightening, in hopes of creating a world prophet for the new millennium, one to be manipulated to create a new era of global peace . . . a peace on their own terms.
Halfway around the world, a man wakes up in a hospital bed with no memory of who he is, knowing only that he’s a prisoner in a subterranean research facility. With the help of three unusual children, he makes his escape across a mountainous and radioactive countryside, pursued by savage hunters bred in the same laboratory. But his goal is not escape, nor even survival. In order to thwart a plot to wipe out a quarter of the world’s population, he must sacrifice all, even the children who rescued him. From ancient Greek temples to glittering mausoleums, from the slums of India to the toxic ruins of Russia, two men must race against time to solve a mystery that dates back to the first famous oracle of history - the Greek Oracle of Delphi.

‘Alive’ by Piers Paul Read
I enjoyed it quite a bit, but i think there was too many characters to remember. I think the author should have explained each character more to give a clear picture in the reader’s mind of what each character looked like and what characteristics they have. Half the time i didn’t know who the character was: Parrado, Canessa, Francois, Inciarti, Turcatti etc etc. TOO MANY PEOPLE TO REMEMBER!!! I also think the front cover gave too much away, ‘Alive’ that one word plus the subtitle and the picture on the cover practically tells the story. The cover tells you there was a plane crash, the subtitle says that the plane crashed in the Andes, and the title plus the end of the subtitle tells you that they survived. I know this is non-fictional, but no book should give that much away on the front cover. It makes the book less exciting because when there is a part in the book when all seems lost and everybody will die of starvation, you know they will get through it because the front cover says they survive! Also, if you’re totally anti-christ, then you will hate this book. I’m telling you there is something to do with God in every second sentence. The story is all about a group of christian Uruguayan rugby players who are travelling to Chile, when they crash in the Andes mountains. Somehow they survive the crash and they survive in the extreme conditions for about 70 days! They all believe that God will save them etc etc.
Overall it is a good book but it had some flaws.
