Scotch Literature Festival 2003 > Welcome Welcome... Welcome to the second biennial Scotch College Literature Festival! The organising committee has again put together an exciting program of activities with 42 authors, poets, illustrators, film critics, comedians, journalists and performers delivering 129 sessions over 5 days to students from Prep - Year 12. In Senior School, each day will commence with a keynote speaker, including: Tim Cope, Andrew Daddo, John Marsden and Isobelle Carmody, and will end with a theatrical performance for the whole year level. Senior school students are being offered 2 sessions in which they may select from 7-10 workshops. The greater student choice this year is a direct result of the feedback received from the 2001 festival. This year for the first time we are offering "Meet the Author" sessions for parents. Our writers-in-residence Markus Zusak and Dr Karen Brooks will be the presenters at these sessions on Monday through to Thursday afternoon. Alongside the formal program, there will be Books, Blokes and Brekky on Tuesday 12th August, roving entertainers, Reader's Feast bookshop, writing competitions and much more... Other new initiatives at this festival are two events for the public: Feel free to ask questions of your literary heroes such as Matthew Reilly, John Marsden, Gary Crew and Isobelle Carmody, learn from the wisdom and experience of James Strong and Michael Hyde, and marvel at the creativity of illustrators Peter Viska and Steven Woolman. Have a wonderful week of reading, writing and imagining, and here's hoping you truly "catch the bug". Suzette Boyd |
