Bernard Caleo
Bernard Caleo
Bernard is the editor and publisher of TANGO, the giant romance comics anthology. TANGO collects comic book stories by artists from all over Australia, and the sixth issue is to be published in July 2005. In addition he continues to write, draw and publish numerous other comic books, both as solo efforts and collaborations. The subject matter in these comic books extends from autobiography to history to super heroics and beyond.
Storytelling in the Gutter (Yr 9 workshop)
Bernard will talk about what it's like to make comic books in Australia, and then lead the seminar through a comic book storytelling exercise. 'The gutter' is the white space between one comic book panel and the next. It looks empty, but in fact that's where the really interesting stuff in a comic actually occurs. Participants in this seminar will spend some time in the gutter and then create their very own very short comic strip story. BYO pencil case and paper.
