Justin Grounds
English singer/songwriter/composer/painter/poet Justin Grounds was immersed in a diverse
musical world from an early age, his hippie mother would play him Bob Dylan, while his academic
father put on Beethoven. After some years of sight-reading Mozart and Bach on violin and clarinet, he
started to collect a menagerie of stringed instruments, drums, whistles, anything he could
lay hands on. As a teen he cut his teeth playing symphony orchestras and jazz bands, blues jams and
string quartets.
This workshop will focus on music and song as a very powerful shared part of our life experience and a fun and endlessly creative way to express ourselves. Bring your voice and/or your instrument and prepare to get messy! Open to all creative spirits, not just instrumentalists.
This workshop will focus primarily on songwriting as a musical and lyrical form, the creative process of songwriting, and a chance to workshop your own song and exchange ideas. There will be performances from Justin of new and old songs, stories behind songs and an insight into how they come about. Bring a song, or just an open ear.
