Shakespeare by the River (Literature Festival Opener)
Did you realise that Shakespeare was never meant to be high brow? His works were written to appeal to the masses; full of human pathos, they are also witty and wicked and fun. Richard Piper, actor, musician and writer understands this, and in collaboration with some of Melbourne's finest artistic talent he has created a world class show putting the spirit back into Shakespeare's words.
'Songs, Sonnets, Rock'n'Roll- Shakespeare by the River' marks the opening night of the 2007 Scotch Literature Festival. It is a hugely entertaining retake on the songs and sonnets of Shakespeare, performed by a star studded cast. Supported by a number of Melbourne's most famous rock and blues musicians, the evening promises to be truly memorable.
