Scotch Literature Festival 2007 > Tony
Tony Wilson
Tony Wilson was born in 1972 in Melbourne.
He has an Arts/Law Degree from the University of Melbourne.
After practicing law for two years, he left to compete
in and win the second season of the ABC TV show Race Around the World. He has since written
3 children's picture books and the novel Players,
for which he was awarded 2006 Sydney Morning Herald Young
Novelist of the Year. He is member of the 3RRR Breakfasters.
After year 12 all Tony wanted to be was an AFL footballer. He was drafted to Hawthorn in 1992, only to be suddenly and shatteringly delisted by Hawthorn later the same year. Suddenly the life-long dream was almost certainly over, and he had to discover a new one. At a crucial time, he remembered an early love for story telling and writing, and by 1998 was living a very different dream - Race Around the World, children's books, features for the newspaper, and a novel.
