Bernard Caleo

Bernard Caleo has been making comics for 25 years, some of them by himself (Mongrel, I Knew Him), some with friends (Yell Ole!, Cafe Ghetto, The Element of Surprise), and he also published Tango, an anthology which had hundreds of contributors! This year he has travelled to Japan to work with comic book makers in a school, and he is making a book of illustrated nonsense poetry called Unfug and Bug. He loves reading Tintin.

Workshops( Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 ): Making comics: writing with pictures!

In this session, Bernard will look at the ways that humans have used simple drawings as a way of writing for tens of thousands of years. You'll warm up by playing some drawing games, then draw a picture sentence, and finally make the shortest comic that it's possible to make!
