Maria is Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Development, Deakin University. Her research, writing and activism is primarily concerned with gender diversity, cultural diversity, sexual diversity and family diversity, and the links to social, emotional, mental and sexual health. And yes, she loves the word (and the world of) 'diversity'!
Workshops ( Year 10 ): Measuring up/being a man: the media and masculinity
Does the media (TV/film/social media/internet/music etc) impact on the way boys and men see themselves, how they want to be, and what they definitely must not be? How do we critically engage with these representations as both media consumers and creators? In this session we will think about how the media is linked with the way boys and men 'do' their masculinity.
