Tony Wright

Tony began his career as a journalist in Portland in 1970 and since then has worked for the Canberra Times and The Sydney Morning Herald, held the positions of chief political correspondent and Canberra bureau chief for The Age and been national affairs editor for The Bulletin from 2000-2007. Currently the national affairs editor for The Age, Tony has also written the books Turn right at Istanbul and Bad ground - the Beaconsfield mine rescue.

Tony talks about his 45 years of journalism, striving to produce stories which connect easily with the reader. He believes that to do this the writing must inform, but also appeal to the reader's emotions.
