The Streetsweeper

The Streetsweeper

By Elliot Perlman

This is a BIG story with an amazing arc from death camps in Auschwitz-Birkenau to the prestigious History Department of Columbia, from New York to Melbourne. Essentially the story of three men all with moral dilemmas – an African American recently released from prison, an elderly patient who is a Holocaust survivor and an untenured professor at the crossroads professionally and personally. They all take very different but linked paths as this epic story of memory, love, loss, racism and simple kindness unfolds. An immensely satisfying read! Come and meet the author at the Literature Festival Dinner.
