Every second year the library invites a guest author who was a hit at the previous year's Literature Festival to spend a week working with keen writers. Stimulating sessions focussing on reading and writing give participants an insight into the life of an author as they hone their literary skills. After Brian Falkner's hugely popular sessions at the 2011 Literature Festival, he was invited back to Scotch as Writer in Residence 2012.
Brian Falkner – Writer in Residence @ Scotch
21st-25th May 2012
Author of 8 novels including Brainjack, The tomorrow code, The project and his latest Assault: book one in the Recon team angel series, Brian's writing appeals to lovers of fast-paced thrillers and sci-fi adventures, with a touch of humour thrown in.
Enthusiastic boys from Years 7 to 10 will have the opportunity to work closely with Brian in hands-on writing workshops throughout the week.
All of Year 7 will hear Brian at a Keynote address on Monday 21st and students from across the whole school will be able to meet him during a lunchtime Q & A session on Tuesday 22nd.
Having lured Brian away from the sunny Gold Coast for a week, let's make sure we give him a warm welcome. We're sure you'll be inspired by Brian and hope you take full advantage of the opportunity to meet with him.
