Lauren Williams

Lauren Williams
Lauren Williams poet, has been writing, publishing and performing her poetry since 1983. She is well known for her liveliness, wit and the accessible nature of her work. Lauren's poetry looks at the world we live in. Her subjects range from plastic bags to henna'd hair, panel vans to ballet dancers.
Workshop title: Invisible tattoos revealed (Yr 11,12)
Lauren Williams, recently featured on ABC TV's book programme, "The last word", will present her clear, upbeat and occasionally funny poetry, including poems from her recent book Invisible tattoos (Five Islands Press 2000). Her subjects range from panel vans and love to supermodels and sport. The tone will be informal. Lauren will chat about how she became a poet, her writing process, and is happy to tackle hard questions from the audience, such as: If it doesn't rhyme, what makes it poetry? How do you know when to end the line? How much does a poet earn? Why is most poetry boring? BYO burning poetry questions.
