Corrie Perkin has been a journalist for 22 years. She started at 'The Age' as a 17 year old school leaver. Corrie has also worked as the Melbourne editor for 'Good Weekend' magazine; Melbourne editor of 'Harper's Bazaar'; written for 'The Australian', 'The Sydney Morning Herald'; former arts and books editor 'Sunday Age'; former editor of 'Saturday Extra'; a former managing editor of 'The Age'; now contributing editor, feature writer and columnist.
Workshop title: Writer or journalist? Is there a difference? (Yr 11, 12)
What are some of the key skills required by journalists? Where is writing in the scheme of things? The different writing styles for newspapers, ie the police reporter, the political analyst, the feature writer, the columnist, etc.
Can writing for a newspaper help or hinder one's literacy skills?
How important is the perfect English score?
